About Us:
The French American Academy is a premier private bilingual educational institution committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. The school currently offers Nursery to Grade 8. From September 2025 our academy will open its High School to our first group of Grade 9s, adding a grade level each subsequent year until Grade 12. We are a Candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) and plan to offer the Diploma Program in Year 11 and 12. We aim to cultivate globally-minded students who are critical thinkers, compassionate individuals, and lifelong learners. We have an emphasis on project-based, experiential, interdisciplinary and globally minded teaching and learning within a context that explicitly builds social-emotional capability and student agency.
Position Overview:
We are seeking values and mission-aligned teachers to be a part of our inaugural High School team and implementation of the IB program. Successful candidates will have a strong background in teaching and a commitment to bilingual, international and interdisciplinary education, experience with the IB is desirable but not mandatory. We seek teachers with experience in project, inquiry and theme-based instruction with a strong ability to collaboratively plan and deliver rich units of study that engage students in experiential learning. We are looking for teachers who love what they do, who believe in the potential of every student, who seek to improve their practice and who are team players.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Differentiate content, process and outcomes for students with different learning needs, language abilities and cultural backgrounds
- Assess and monitor student understanding, providing targeted interventions and feedback to ensure academic excellence.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units and integrate the IB philosophy across subjects.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with IB best practices and educational trends and ensure accurate implementation of IB planning and teaching requirements to contribute to our school’s successful full authorization.
- Integrate implicit and explicit social and emotional teaching strategies, in collaboration with colleagues, to ensure student wellbeing and safety
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification (from country of origin)
- Ability and willingness to teach multiple subject areas desirable
- Experience teaching in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or Diploma Program (DP) is desirable.
- Positions are available for both English and French native speakers. All staff however must have proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Experience in project and/or theme-based and interdisciplinary instruction.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
