Job Title: Bilingual Teacher Assistant

Location: French American Academy, Hoboken

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate individual to fill the role of Assistant Teacher. The successful candidate will assist the lead teachers both in French and English in conducting classes, preparing lesson plans, and helping students improve their various skills.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing lessons based on the French curriculum.
• Help in evaluating student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with other faculty members to foster a positive learning environment.
• Support in managing student behavior in the classroom.
• Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events as needed.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization.
• Help students with their classwork and clarify any questions they might have.

We are looking for a candidate who:

• Is interested in working in a bilingual French/English setting
• Has preschool experience, 1 year minimum
• Has bachelor degree in education (preferred but not required)
• Has strong writing and speaking skills in English
• Has a student-centered approach
• Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
• Create a nurturing and safe classroom community
• Enjoys collaborating on curriculum and project-based learning
• Is adaptable, flexible, and creative
• Is willing to teach several different grades
• Has a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
• Proficiency in French is a must

A strong grasp of cultural awareness is desired for this position, as the ability to recognize, appreciate, and effectively work within various cultural contexts is integral to fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at our academy.
